Use a timer when refilling your Jacuzzi. If your system kicks on and there’s no water in the tub you are guaranteed to do major damage to your system.
You can also do perform partial water changes between complete water changes to decontaminate your hot tub.
Purchase a Decent Hot Tub Vacuum
There are many choices in hot tub vacuums and most of them will do the job. Spend a little extra on one that’s nice so you don’t have to keep buying them. Make sure it’s designed for a hot tub and it’s able to reach all those nooks and crannies. This will allow you keep the bottom of your hot tub nice and clean for use.
Most debris are brought into the hot tub from entering and exiting and a nice little quick tip is to keep a small pre-entry tub for your feet on the side of your hot tub that will allow you and your guests to dip your feet in before entering the hot tub. This is a simple solution that will save you loads of time cleaning your Jacuzzi.
Use a Scum Ball or Tennis Ball in the Skimmer
Using a Scum Ball or placing tennis ball into the skimmers or just dropping them directly into the water will do the trick. What either the Scum Ball or tennis ball will do is attract and absorb body oils, hair products, lotions, etc. from entering into the filtration system. You’ll definitely want to change them as necessary depending on overall use and the users.
Maintaining your Hot Tub Cover by Cleaning with Bleach & Water
Your hot tub cover is guaranteed to eventually start producing an unwanted musty or mildew smell after a while. It’s an inevitable fact, but you can prevent it or postpone this effect by regularly cleaning your hot cover with a small solution of 10% bleach parts to 90% water. This will drastically reduce any smells and make sure that nothing grows. We recommend cleaning is this fashion every 90 days to reduce foul odors from your hot tub cover.
Inspect, Change. Or Clean your Filter Cartridges on Regular BasisYou’ll want to remove and inspect your hot tub filter cartridges every 3-6 months. If they’re a year or more old or look damaged you’ll want to change them out for new filters. If not replacing the filters you’ll first you’ll want to hose them down thoroughly with your garden hose. You can purchase filter soak cleansers from us or any pool supply store. Let the filters soak for 2-4 hours and then return to the garden hose to rinse them off again. You’ll want to make sure to clean the internal housing and skimmer before reinstalling. We recommend always having a few back-up filters handy for uninterrupted hot tub use. Minor maintenance on the filtration system can save you time and money in the long run.
Enzyme Product for your Jacuzzi Hot Tub
We recommend finding an Enzyme product for your hot tub and using it on a regular basis to maintain the environment. What the Enzymes will do is break down fatty lipids, encourage overall cleanliness, as well as work in unison with the regular maintenance chemicals. The Enzymes will also help reduce the skum lining that will develop around the top over time without regular maintenance. It’s well worth the investment and will save you from having to scrub your tub after a prolonged period of time.
Do Not Use Household Cleaning Chemicals in your Hot Tub
Please do everything you can to avoid using household cleaning chemicals on you Jacuzzi Hot Tub. It is of the utmost importance that you use approved for use products on your hot tub. Using chemicals that aren’t designed specifically for use can damage the hot tub or worse.
